Pullichira Church - established during the late 1600 AD this church has a history attached to it. According to a legend it is said that a Portuguese ship was caught in a terrible storm and the sailors had prayed to Mother Mary to save them. They are said to have put a statue of the Virgin Mary in a box and set it to sail on the Arabian Sea with a determination to build a church where the box would land. The people who found the box then established a church with the statute. Some years later the Portuguese arrived with a grand altar and installed the savior statue on it. The statue is still in the Church and it is said that prayers to her are answered.
